This is a beginner-friendly guide that explains the basics of data analytics. Its part of the Self-Learning Management Series, which aims to make complex topics easy to understand. Overall, this book is a great starting point for anyone looking to learn about data analytics. Its clear explanations and practical examples make it a valuable resource for beginners.
This is a decently legit intro to the basics of data analytics and other data-related concerns. It's mostly intended for private businesses (as demonstrated by the case studies being private businesses) and the people who work in them, but since AI and big data are two of the big current conceptual fads in technology, this would be a worthwhile read for people working in the public sector, the military, or pretty much anywhere else that's concerned with big data, data science, ethical/legal/privacy concerns arising from big data, and other similar issues.
It doesn't give a lot of math problems or equations, but that's ok - this isn't intended to be a technical manual for coders or computer science people, but rather a conceptual overview for everyone else. It succeeds very well in that sense.
This book is a good introduction to concepts of data analytics. Topics are well-organized and covered at a beginning level in clear language. The numerous references provide opportunities for further examination of particular subjects. The chapter questions are helpful for review. I would have enjoyed more detail in the case studies. This volume is very definitely an introduction to the subject, but should prepare the reader to more confidently move on to other sources with more detail and hands-on material.
Even though data analytics is new to me. I was surprised at how far its history goes. Professionals the IT industry have got to read this in order to brush up on data analytics. It was great that this book summarizes each chapter so I will be able to understand what data analysis truly is. The types of data analysis and structures were my favorite parts.
This book is great for beginners. Before reading it, I really did not know much about the subject. I found the books language and tone, however, to be instructional in a way that I could comprehend without getting bogged down in too many esoteric complexities. One of the things I found very helpful was how Dr. Bianca Szasz stated the learning objectives from the very beginning. I knew exactly what I was getting into and where I was going. Another beneficial feature of the book is the instruction on how to use the book to your best advantage. I felt that this was immensely helpful. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to start learning about data analytics, or is curious about this evolving subject.
