I have a background in organizational communication, having taught one semester of it. As the title implies, this is an overview of organizational behavior, with quizzes and references for further reading and discussion.
This is a very good read for organizational behavior -- it helped me see how I should manage, employ, and divide up job duties to my employees. I would recommend this book to anyone looking into management and leadership responsibilities.
I was impressed with the completeness of the book's outline of topics, and the apt succinctness of the sentences.
I imagined that someone whose command of English was AS a second language (but who had 'mastered the language' for professional competency) would find this book relatively easy to use (in getting up to speed on OB - organizational behavior). The language was clear, succinct, and neither overly 'colorful' nor clich-ridden nor ridden with suboptimally nuanced word selections, as one sometimes sees when an author speaks only one language, but really well. IMO the writing was apt.
I think that the text book is aptly named - ESSENTIALS of OB - not everything, but everything one needs (or even would WANT) to know, even if that were the ONLY OB book one ever read during a professional career in a complex organization (and most of MY professional career HAS been in such organizations).
Very helpful book
The book offers a great overview of organizational behavior, from individual to group dynamics. I appreciate the author's ability to present complex topics in an accessible way. It’s an invaluable guide for both students and professionals looking to enhance their knowledge in this field.
